Does Isa Al-Mesih’s Crucifixion Show His Power or Weakness?

Isa Al-Masih died on the cross and was raised by Allah on the third day.

Many Muslims cannot accept this as the truth because this would mean that the devil has defeated Isa Al-Masih. They believe that God’s prophets always succeed and never suffer. A Muslim scholar, Dr. Hammudah Abdalati, asked, “Is it consistent with God’s Mercy and Wisdom [for us] to believe that Jesus was humiliated and murdered the way he is said to have been?”

Isa’s death and resurrection actually demonstrate His power. How is this possible?

His Power Proven in His Death

Even before His death, Isa knew that it was God’s will for Him to die and He surrendered to Allah.

. . . Jesus [Isa Al-Masih] began to explain to his disciples that he must   . . .  suffer many things . . . and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life” (The Injil, Matthew 16:21).

Even though Isa had never sinned, many people mocked and beat Him. “Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you?” (The Injil, Matthew 26:67-68). Yet, Isa didn’t defend Himself.  “But Jesus [Isa Al-Masih] remained silent. . .” (The Injil, Matthew 26:63).

This displayed that Isa Al-Masih had supernatural strength to not defend Himself. Furthermore, He showed compassion to his persecutors by asking the Father to forgive them. “. . . Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. . .” (The Injil, Luke 23:34).

His Power in His Resurrection!

Isa died on the cross, was buried and raised by God on the third day.  “. . . that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (The Injil, 1 Corinthians 15:4).

Isa’s resurrection showed God’s power. Who else can raise the dead besides God?

Isa always obeyed God and overcame all of the devil’s temptations. Thus, He had the power to overthrow all of the devil’s schemes.

God’s Word says Isa’s death and resurrection have brought forgiveness and freedom from the power of sin for anyone who believes in Him. God has given his children the power to overcome their sinful nature and resist the devil’s temptations.

This Easter let’s celebrate the power of Isa Al-Masih who has defeated the devil and brought forgiveness to everyone who believes in Him.

God loves you and waits to hear from you. Isa clearly said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”(Injil, John 14:6).
