Isa Mesih Brings Guidance and Light
The Quran testifies, “We sent Isa Mesih the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah” (Qs 5:46).
The Teachings of Isa Mesih Are Found Only in the Bible
In what way does Isa Mesih (Jesus the Messiah) bring guidance and light? To find the answer we must turn to the Gospel found in the Bible. It contains His teaching. Those who fear Allah will be encouraged and will embrace the guidance Isa Mesih gives.
Allah Loves You and Wants You to Have Eternal Life
Isa Mesih often used the word “Love.” He taught that Allah loves the world of sinful people. He demonstrated His love in a very costly way. Isa Mesih said, “God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son…” (Injil, John 3:16). Isa Mesih urges people who love Allah to accept His love and experience the everlasting life He offers.
If You Fear Allah, You Must Love Other People
Isa Mesih then taught that those who fear Allah must extend God’s love to those around them. In the story of the Good Samaritan, Isa Isa Mesih makes it plain that loving your neighbor means helping whoever needs your help (Injil, Luke 10:25-37). He taught that even people who might be called enemies must be loved (Injil, Matthew 5:43).
The Condition of Our Hearts Is More Important Than Our Works
Isa Mesih taught that the inward part of a person, the heart, is the most important aspect of our nature. When Isa Mesih lived on earth, He met many people who liked to make a public display of their religion. They prayed publicly so others could see them. They gave money to poor people so others would see it. They fasted and made sure others knew they were fasting. They were very careful to wash their hands publicly so everyone knew they were very particular in keeping every commandment God or their leaders had given. But Isa said, “First clean the inside of the cup, then the outside will also be clean” (Injil, Matthew 23:26). Another time He said, “Out of the heart come the things that make a person unclean” (Injil, Mark 7:20). The examples Isa Mesih gave us included murder, adultery, theft and false testimony (Injil, Matthew 15:18-20).
God Has Mercy On People Who Repent
Isa Mesih told a story about a religious leader, called a Pharisee (like an Imam), praying in the temple and telling God about all the good things he was doing.Isa Mesih then mentioned that a tax collector, a man who had often broken God’s laws, simply prayed, “God have mercy on me, a sinner.” Isa Mesih taught that God heard the prayer of the repentant sinner but not the prayer of the seemingly good man (Luke 18:10-14).
Isa Mesih Is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
Isa taught that He Himself was the Light in this world of darkness and evil (Injil, John 8:12). He made it even clearer when He said, “I am the way (not one of the ways, but the only way), I am the truth (by giving guidance to those who fear Allah) and I am the Life (by giving eternal life to His followers)” (Injil, John 14:6).
Let Isa Mesih Take Your Sins and Give You Rest
Accepting the guidance and light Isa brought includes responding to His invitation. He invited those carrying inward burdens of sin and shame to come to Him. “Come to me,” He said, “All who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Injil, Matthew 11:28). The person who receives God’s rest no longer relies on self-effort to free himself from the burden of sin. He trusts in Isa Mesih rest, it is a gift. He says, “I will give you rest.” Have you accepted His gift? It is part of His guidance and light.
